Miscellaneous papers, 1798-1850.

Miscellaneous Papers and Letters of John Marshall Guion and other family members, including H. Foster Latham. The family was located in and around the area of Seneca Falls, New York, 1820-1850. The collection includes correspondence between family members, receipts and account books, letters written in French, and other documents written by H. Foster Latham. Also included in the collection is a daguerreotype of seven unidentified people, possibly J. Marshall and Elizabeth Guion's children.

Reverend John Marshall Guion was born about 1786 in Rye, Westchester County, New York. He graduated from Columbia College in 1826 and the General Theological Seminary in 1829 and later became rector of parishes in Saybrook, Meriden, and New Britain, Connecticut. He officiated on various occasions for the Chaplain of the United States Senate and in 1855 he became rector of Trinity Church in Seneca Falls, New York, where he remained until his death in 1878. J.
